LC commonly refers to the air/liquid-cooled generation of the R1200GS introduced for 2013. This was a major redesign with a newly developed boxer engine, integrated gearbox, wet clutch and other substantial changes from the earlier air/oil-cooled R1200GS. Because of these differences, a part designed for an earlier R1200GS should not automatically be assumed to fit a 2013–2018 R1200GS LC.

Some are, but not all. The standard R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure share many engine, control and chassis-related components, which is why some aftermarket parts fit both. However, the Adventure has differences in the fuel tank, suspension travel, bodywork, protection equipment and touring setup. Always check whether a product specifically lists the R1200GS, R1200GS Adventure or both.

Some do. Many accessories are designed for compatible R1200GS and BMW R1250GS applications, including selected footpegs, brake controls, luggage accessories, handlebar parts, navigation mounts and protection components. However, the R1250GS introduced the 1,254 cc ShiftCam engine and other changes, so engine-specific and model-year-specific R1200GS parts should not automatically be treated as R1250GS parts.
